Aronoff Center of Design and Art

Cincinnati, OH

The Aronoff Center for Design and Art at the University of Cincinnati, designed by Peter Eisenman in collaboration with Lorenz & Williams, was completed in 1996 after nearly a decade of development. Selected through an international competition, Eisenman’s design integrated the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) into a unified 140,000-square-foot complex. This addition expanded the existing facilities with studios, a theater, a library, and offices while introducing a dynamic 800-foot-long concourse that weaves through the building, linking the old and new structures. With its bold form, soft hues, and unconventional geometry, the Aronoff Center became a symbol of interdisciplinary collaboration and a reflection of DAAP’s innovative spirit.
