55 Second Street

San Francisco, CA.

55 Second Street is a high-rise office tower in San Francisco's South Financial District that balances modern prominence with respect for its historic surroundings. The design addresses site challenges, such as a narrow alleyway and proximity to a historic conservation district, with a stepped-back eastern façade and contextual detailing like belt courses and cornices. Its illuminated torchieres and distinctive top details create a striking addition to the city skyline, while a galleria connects the tower to the historic California Farmers building and a nearby park, enhancing pedestrian flow. Certified LEED Gold, the project exemplifies thoughtful urban design and sustainability.
